The Demopolis Police Department is looking for a few young men. And women. And boys and girls, too.
Later this month the DPD will open enrollment to its Explorers Program to men and women ages 14 through 20. The younger applicants must have completed the eighth grade.
The program is open to anyone interested in, or learning more about, careers in law enforcement.
“Law enforcement exploring provides educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission and objectives of law enforcement,” DPD Chief Tommie Reese said. “The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities.”
Reese said the primary goal of the program is to help young adults “choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their community.”
Applications may be picked up at the Demopolis Police Department. An enrollment night will be held May 29 at 7 p.m. in the classroom at the DPD. Parents are encouraged to attend and ask any questions, or address any concerns they may have.
