DPD nabs Birmingham attorney in Internet case

Thursday, the Demopolis Police Department made its third arrest in slightly more than a month of an alleged Internet predator.
William Brett Brown, 32, of Hoover, was charged with two counts of Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child by Computer. The person Wilson was communicating with was actually a DPD investigator.
Brown is presently in the Marengo County Detention Center awaiting bond.
At the time of his arrest, Brown was an associate lawyer with WhatleyKallas, a Birmingham-based law firm specializing in healthcare litigation.
Wilson’s arrest marks the 11th such arrest by the Demopolis Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division in their crack down on cyber crimes. Arrestees have come from as far away as Oklahoma and from all around Alabama. Each were charged with various crimes ranging from transmitting obscene material to electronic solicitation of a child.
