Sadie Merle Whitcomb, 93, a homemaker, of Linden, passed away April 26, 2012 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. She was born March 8, 1919 in Sweet Water. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 60 years and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.

The is survived by her son, Paul (Ann) Whitcomb, of Linden; daughter, Sue (Waldon) Tucker, of Fayette; sister, Margaret Cross, of Linden; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Whitcomb and grandson, Coleman Whitcomb.

Funeral services were held at Providence Baptist Church on April 29, 2012 with Paul Whitcomb and Rev. Warren Huggins officiating. Burial followed at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Gallion.

Active Pallbearers were Charles Arledge, Daryl Tucker, Tommy Vick, Milton Vick, Jim Burkhalter and Eddie Edwards.

Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Progressive Sunday School Class at Providence Baptist Church, Linda and Bobby McCran and Moses and Wanda Wilkerson.
