Mattie M. Cannon

Mattie M. Cannon, 91, a cosmetologist, of Thomaston, passed away April 27, 2012 at her childhood home in York. She was born September 2, 1920 in York.
She is survived by her step-son and daughter-in-law, John (Josephine) Cannon, of St. Elmo; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bessie Lou Cannon (Maury) Wilson, of Conyers, Ga., Ann Cannon (Melvin) Burge, of Selma, Sara Cannon (Hooty) Allen, of Arab; sister, Janelle Taylor, of York; nine grandchildren, Mike (Johnny Lynn) Cannon, of St. Elmo, David Cannon of Talladega, Elisha (Pearson) Rogers, of Deatsville, Maura (Jeff) Snowden, of Athens, Ga., Neil Allen, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Blake Wilson of Vidalia, Ga., Ellen (Jimbo) Miller, of Elmore, Kimberly (Dan) Anderson, of Orlando, Fla., Meredith Wilson, of Conyers, Ga., eight great-grandchildren, Lacy Cannon Crisman, of Prattville, Mandalyn and Sheldon Cannon, of St. Elmo, Clayton Rogers, of Deatsville, Briana Cannon, of Prattville, Cannon Rogers, of Deatsville, Freddie Snowden, of Athens, Ga., Addison Miller, of Elmore; three great-great-grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Columbus Cannon, Sr., her parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at Thomaston Baptist Church April 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brad Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Thomaston Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Bill Taylor, Bob Taylor, Tom Taylor, Phil McDonald, Larry Ross, Jimmy Ross, Larry Holt and jackie Holt.
