Time running out to apply for Pickel scholarship

The Canebrake Players Community Theatre is accepting applications for its Clark Pickel Memorial Scholarship according to Ann Parsons, who coordinates the drama group’s annual scholarship process.
Mrs. Parsons explained, “High school seniors who have participated in Canebrake productions are eligible for consideration. They qualify to apply if they have performed on stage as cast members or if they have worked behind the scenes with any aspect of production.” She continued, “To apply, they must write an essay of 500 words on what their Canebrake experience has meant to them.”
She concluded by stressing that applications must be must be received at the Canebrake Players’ address (Post Office Box 1164, Demopolis, 36732-1164) no later than May 2 this year.
Canebrake Players Community Theatre has given a scholarship since 1992. In 2009, it was renamed the Clark Pickel Memorial Scholarship in memory the late Clark Pickle, who enjoyed performing in many Canebrake productions as a young student in Demopolis.
The son of Brad and Lisa Pickel, Clark died in a tragic vehicular accident in September 2006.
