Magdalene “Madge” “Doodle” Lackey

Magdalene “Madge” “Doodle” Lackey, 79, of Wauchula, Fla. passed away on March 9, 2012. Madge was born in Dixon Mills, Ala.on May 13, 1932. She came to Wauchula in August of 1968 from Midland City, Ala.
She was Director of Nursing at Hardee Memorial Hospital, Wauchula for several years. Madge enjoyed her grandchildren and “junking” and loved taking care of people.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women (B.P.W.), the Woman’s Club, and the American Cancer Society. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula, Madge was a G. A. leader, Sunday School secretary and was active in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence E. and Minnie Lee Squires Glover, and husband, George Earl Lackey. Survivors include one son, George Nelson Lackey, Sr. and wife Melinda of Bowling Green, Fla.; one daughter, Karin Lee Lackey of Olympia, Wash.; one sister, Ramona Snipes and husband Vernon of Demopolis, Ala.; five grandchildren, Melina Catherine Hart, Whitney Marie Lackey, George Nelson Lackey, Jr., Emily Lackey and Riley Lackey; and nephews, Charles Edward Snipes (Peggy) and Mitchell Wade Snipes (Amanda).
Services were held at 1:00 p.m. March 12th at First Baptist Church of Wauchula.
