DMS softball has big week

The Demopolis Middle School girls softball team (5-4) snagged a trio of wins this week, taking road contests against American Christian and West Blocton and a home date against Martin Middle.
The DMS Lady Tigers beat ACA 13-1 in five innings Tuesday. Hannah Malone, Mary Michael Bradley and Lara Little combined to allow one hit in the contest. Malone struck out two in two innings of work while Little fanned four over two frames.
Macey Petrey doubled and scored a run. Rachel Smith went 1-for-2 with an RBI and scored. Abbey Latham was 1-for-1 with a run scored.
The Lady Tigers beat West Blocton 9-0 Wednesday, backing up the pitching effort of Little and Malone.
Little worked an inning and two-thirds, allowed no hits and struck out three. Malone pitched five and one-third innings, striking out five and scattering two hits.
Latham went 1-for-2 with a single and a run scored. Malone went 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored. Maddie Griggers finished 1-for-2 with an inside the park home run in a game where the Lady Tigers came up with a handful of key defensive plays.
The DMS ladies finished the week with a 17-5 win over Martin Middle. Little and Malone handled the work in the circle again for the Lady Tigers, striking out a total of six in the contest.
Petrey went 1-for-2 with a double and a RBI. Ryan Hale was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Smith finished 2-for-3 with tow RBIs. Latham went 1-for-2. Zarquasia Taylor went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Griggers finished the game 1-for-3 with an RBI. Caitlin Thrash went 1-for-3 while Anna Caroline Logan was 1-for-2.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play again Monday when they host Hale County.
