Demopolis baseball routs Leroy

Demopolis (3-0) was strong in its tournament opener Friday, downing Leroy 11-1 in five innings.
William Stewart (2-0) held the Bear bats at bay, striking out six hitters over five innings while allowing only two hits. Stewart walked one and plunked one, allowing a single earned run in the contest.
Stewart also did his share of damage at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs in the game.
Alex Sturdivant went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, a walk and a run scored. Kole Thrasher went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Brock Montgomery put together a 2-for-3 night at the dish with a walk, a run and a RBI. Mason Rogers went 1-for-2 with two runs and two walks.
Daniel Sturdivant walked and had a RBI. Payne Hasty walked twice and scored two runs. Wesley Anderson went 1-for-2 and scored a pair of runs. Devin Stroud drew a walk in the game.
Demopolis scored in each inning, hanging one run on the board in the first, two in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth. The Tigers had 10 hits and drew nine walks in the game while also committing their first error of the season.
Demopolis is scheduled to play Wetumpka at 10 a.m. Saturday and Jackson at 3 p.m.
