UWA honors alumni

LIVINGSTON – The University of West Alabama and the UWA National Alumni Association presented annual awards to outstanding alumni during Homecoming festivities on Oct. 8. The Alumni Achievement Awards honor outstanding careers that reflect honor on the University and Emerging Leader awards recognize outstanding alumni from the last decade who show promise for success and leadership.
The awards honor graduates in each UWA college or division.
Kevin Jacobs of Linden received the UWA College of Business Emerging Leader Award. While working full-time at Gulf States, Jacobs was able to obtain his degree and graduated cum laude from UWA in 2004 with a Bachelor of Business Administration-Concentration in Accounting.
Kevin currently holds the position of General Ledger/Insurance/Risk Manager with ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA in Mobile, AL where he helps lead the accounting and finance department for one of the largest capital projects in U.S. history. ThyssenKrupp began construction of the $5 Billion project in November 2007 and Kevin joined the company soon after. His responsibilities include financial reporting, foreign currency hedging and risk management. His previous experience includes managing cost accounting at Foster Farms in Demopolis and serving as Controller for Certegy Financial Services in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Kevin currently resides in Linden, AL with his wife Madaline and his children Jake and Wessie Lee.
