Elmer Francis Pruitt, 81, of Demopolis died Sept. 5 at his home. Born Nov. 8, 1929 in Demopolis to the late John William and Lena Cox Pruitt, he was preceded in death by his parents, sister Grace Pruitt Briney and brothers, Solan Pruitt, John William Pruitt, Percy Lett Pruitt and Whitfield Pruitt and five other siblings who went to be with Lord during infancy or early childhood.
He is survived by his wife Ola Catherine Griffith Pruitt, daughters Ola Pruitt Ross of Demopolis, Ann Pruitt (Bobby) Jackson of Demopolis, brother John Montez (Elizabeth) Pruitt of Birmingham, grandchildren Janis Grace, Fran Jackson, Marci Jackson, Jerry Ross and Laura Catherine (Jeff) Davidson and one great grandchild, Anna Caroline Davidson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Demopolis. Burial will follow at Old Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Pruitt home Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Dr. Art Luckie, Rev. Rob Wynne and Rev. John Montez Pruitt will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing.
Active Pallbearers include Tommy Pruitt, John Pruitt, David Pruitt, Lee Pruitt, Jeff Davidson and Jay Studdard.
