Luck for a Decatur man charged with a sex crime in Demopolis didn’t improve upon his posting bond and return trip home.
Billy Ray Jackson, 58, of Decatur, was arrested last Monday by the Demopolis Police Department and charged with five counts of Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child by Computer.
Jackson posted bail and returned home late last week, where he flipped on his television and tuned into his local television news broadcast.
The big story of Saturday night was a Decatur man arrested in Demopolis and charged with a sex crime.
The report that followed about Jackson’s arrest sparked a standoff that lasted several hours in the Beltline Villas apartments.
According to Huntsville news station WAFF, Decatur investigators said Jackson became upset about a news report involving his arrest.
Police said the man’s wife was inside at the time, but left when he got upset. Shortly thereafter, authorities were called, initiating a standoff that lasted into the night. Jackson surrendered to authorities around 10 p.m. Saturday.
No one was inured in the incident.
