Local Troy graduate lands with Air Force

Two Troy University graduates have become the newest second lieutenants in the United States Air Force.
Allen Hammond, a College of Arts and Sciences chemistry graduate from Demopolis, will attend Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Okla. Hammond will be preparing to fly some of the worldís most advanced military aircrafts.
Casey Garner, a College of Communication and Fine Arts graduate from Enterprise, was been assigned to the Combat Systems Officer career field and will begin flight training at Pensacola, Fla. in preparation to navigate and control weapons delivery systems in some of the worldís most dominate military aircrafts.
“Both of these officers have demonstrated both dynamic followership and excellent leadership skill-sets at TROY,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Shannon, TROY Air Force ROTC detachment commander and professor of aerospace studies. “Aviation slots are only awarded to some of the top cadets in Air Force ROTC.”
