Demopolis (10-5, 3-1) picked up a win on the road Friday night, taking down American Christian Acadmey 5-1.
Demopolis head coach Peter Keen said his team showed some deficiencies while trying to adjust to a new scheme the coaching staff was attempting to implement.
“Anytime I change a formation, it gets in their head,” Keen said. “That three back (set) played with their head a little bit. In the second half, we went back to a four-back and they played like they normally do.”
Demopolis played to a 1-1 deadlock in the first half, getting its only goal of the period off the foot of Thomas Cramer, who scored on a corner kick.
In the second half, Mitch McPherson added a score with an assist from Jarvis Lawson.
Cramer got involved in the action again, providing a helper on Cameron Fendley’s goal.
Lawson then added an unassisted effort to push the lead to 4-1 before Austin Brooks scored with an assist from Jacob Roemen.
The Tigers took 16 shots on goal in the game while only giving up three.
The team will play again next Friday evening when it travels to region foe and No. 1 ranked John Carroll.
“When you’re playing John Carroll, the number one thing is defense,” Keen said. “When you play John Carroll, you have to be ready to play defense.”
