The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year. The honor will be bestowed for accomplishments during the year 2010 and will be presented at the 95th Annual Chamber Banquet and Meeting Monday, Feb. 28.
“The criteria used for judging these awards centers on activity and excellence in the community within the past year,” said Chamber Executive Director Jenn Tate. “Nominees, typically, are those individuals and businesses that go above and beyond the call of the community to meet needs, provide new services and generally excel in their community efforts.”
All nominations must be provided in writing and received by the Chamber no later than Feb. 11. For more information please contact the Chamber at 289-0270.
This year’s banquet will follow last year’s with regard to formatting. A guest speaker has not yet been secured but Chamber Board Member Diane Brooker said they expected to retain a “light” or “entertaining” speaker versus a traditional business presentation or lecture format.
Another holdover from last year will be the silent auction, which will again feature items donated by local artists and businesses.
