Player of the Week: Kierra Carter

She does work. That’s the most appropriate way to put it.
What she does on the basketball floor is not always pretty and is not always awe-inspiring, but it is always effective.
The workman-like Carter is finally back on the court after missing approximately a year and a half with knee injuries.
The physical struggles have had an effect on Carter’s overall athleticism, but not her ability to lead her team.
Prior to the injury, Carter played out on the wing and proved to be the emotional leader of the Lady Tigers despite only being a sophomore.
Now she slots in at the power forward spot and provides a difficult matchup for most traditional post players.
She is quicker and more active than most post players, making her a tough cover. And she is taller and stronger than smaller post players, creating a matchup for undersized teams.
But the post is only part of her game. Carter still steps out and plays the wing plenty. And, despite the injury history, she remains tenacious and active on defense, feeding a transition offense that is blowing teams out early through the first six games of the season.
Friday night she put her complete game together to post 20 points, grab eight rebounds, hand out four assists and come away with four steals. As long as she is on the floor, Demopolis is never out of any game. Do work young lady.
