There are several trophies, pictures and other sports memorabilia, along with plaques for the 11 inducted members of the Marengo County Sports Hall of Fame, all on display in the back room of the Demopolis Public Library.
Everyone is invited to go by to view the memorabilia already on display, and the Board of the Hall of Fame is soliciting donation or loan of memorabilia or pictures that anyone may have that would be suitable for display.
Items may be offered to Tom Boggs at his law office in Demopolis, Dr. Tony Speegle at U.S. Jones Elementary School in Demopolis, Ann Yelverton at First Bank of Linden, Judge Wade Drinkard in the Court House or Stratton Lewis at Sweet Water State Bank of Sweet Water as well as any other board member.
The induction dinner for the five new members of the class of 2011 will be held at the Demopolis Civic Center on Monday evening, Feb. 21, 2011.
In October, the Hall of Fame board accepted a $3,000 check from the Black Belt Community Foundation. The funds allowed the board to purchase display cases for its honorees and trophies.
