Demopolis mayor Mike Grayson signed a proclamation on Monday naming the month of November as National Home Care Month. On hand were several representatives of Demopolis home care providers.
According to the proclamation, home care services provide high-quality and compassionate health care services to those in need, especially in times of community or personal health care crisis. It is the preferred method of health care delivery among disabled, elderly and chronically ill people eager to live independently in their own homes as long as they possibly can.
“Home care includes hospice and homemaker services as well as home health care services and nursing services,” said account executive Amy Saliba of Amedisys, who organized the proclamation signing. “We generally deal with the health care needs of the elderly and disabled, but we service all of the population, really.
“Declaring Home Care Month is a way to provide awareness and understanding of these services that are available. It’s also a way to say thank you to our patients and our communities and the physicians who work with us.”
