Aliquippa Savage Ferrall passed away on June 10, 2009, at age 98.
She was raised in Demopolis, and was the city clerk of the City of Demopolis from 1935 to 1945, the first woman to hold that post. She married Charles Ferrall and moved to Larchmont, N.Y., in 1945. She was an avid gardener and a fan of photography.
She retired to Sarasota, Fla., in 1969 and volunteered at the local hospital, serving as chairwoman of volunteers there for eight years. In 2002, after her husband passed away in 1998, she moved across the country to Sonoma, Calif., and in 2008 to El Cerrito, Calif., to be near her son.
She is survived by her son, Charles Ferrall Jr., and his partner, Jane Allardt; and several nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks people to make a donation to the local Humane Society.
