Annie Mae Williams

Annie Mae Echols Williams, age 94, of Linden died on April 14, 2009, at Vaughn Memorial Hospital in Selma.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1914, in Itta Bena, Miss., as the youngest of three children to Ellis and Mamie Echols. She was originally from Harrisburg, Pa., where she and her husband, Job Williams Sr., raised six children. She was a schoolteacher and a member of the AME Zion Church. After the death of her husband, she moved to Linden to live with her daughter. She joined the First Baptist Church, where she played the piano for Sunday school and church.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 17, at noon. A viewing was held at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Larkin & Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directed the services.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Job E. Williams Sr., and a son, Herman Williams.
She is survived by five of her six children, Job E. (Glenda) Williams Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Jacqueline (Walter) Davis of Linden, Edith (William) Humphrey of Huntsville, Barbara (James) Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., and Jimmy (Dawn) Williams of Bowie, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Mamie Williams of Harrisburg, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
