Lois Bates

Lois Rhodes Bates, age 82, of Demopolis passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
She was a native of Jefferson, a member of Jefferson Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at the Jefferson Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Gandy officiating. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis is directing the services.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Bates of Jefferson; two sons, Jim Bates of Montgomery and Chip (Charlotte) Bates of Statesboro, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Archer of Linden, Elizabeth (Billy) Alston of Linden and Miriam “Sissy” Watts of Decatur; one brother, Billy (Christine) Rhodes of Jefferson; one grandson, Bill Bates of Statesboro, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Mark Tucker, Don Lewis, George Fendley, Mark Goddard, Robert Vetzel and Chris McIntosh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Jefferson Cemetery Fund, General Delivery, Jefferson, AL 36745.
