Singleton named president of BankTrust

Demopolis native Charles Singleton was named president of BankTrust effective immediately.
With a strong background in community banking and deep ties to the area, Singleton will take the lead in local credit decisions and deposit operations as well as leading the bank’s involvement in civic affairs.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for me to continue with a great bank and take care of my customers, as I always have,” Singleton said.
Singleton joined the bank in 1997 after graduating from Auburn University with a bachelor of science degree in finance. He is a 2001 graduate of the Alabama Banking School with the University of South Alabama, and is a 2007 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
He has served on the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and is a past Chamber chairman.
He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club and currently serves on the board of Demopolis Youth Baseball.
Singleton has served for 17 years as an officer with the Alabama National Guard. He served 2003-04 with Iraqi Freedom in Mosul, Iraq, and recently completed a four-month basic officer leadership course.
Singleton is married to the former Ellen Lewis, and they have two children: Charles, 6, and Maddie, 2.
Also, assistant vice president Leslie Davis will continue her leadership role in customer service.
A 1993 graduate of Demopolis, Davis began her banking career with BankTrust in 1996, and is a 2007 graduate of the Alabama Banking School with the University of South Alabama.
Davis is married to C.J. Davis, and they have three children: Morgan, 13; Riley, 8; and Jacob, 3.
