A Demopolis woman was arrested Friday night for stabbing a man to death at Crossgates Apartments at 1400 U.S. Highway 43 South.
Debra Allen, 41, of Demopolis is alleged to have stabbed Fitsjerl Eugene Johnson, 44, of Calvert in a breezeway between apartment buildings on Friday at about 8:30 p.m.
She was taken into custody soon after Demopolis Police Department officers arrived at the scene and was charged with murder.
“When officers arrived, they found the victim lying between two apartments in a breezeway,” said DPD interim chief Tim Williams. “He was attended by medical personnel and transported to Bryan Whitfield Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.”
Williams said the events leading up to the stabbing were still undetermined and under investigation.
“There was a disagreement between the two, definitely,” Williams said, “but I don’t know what caused her to take it so far.”
Williams added that Allen has confessed to the crime she is charged with.
“This case is pretty well closed,” he said.
The homicide is the fourth in three incidents for Demopolis in 2008.
On Feb. 16, Randy Douglas Warren, 37, was found shot to death at his residence on Ash Street. That case is still under investigation.
On Nov. 13, Henry Green, 22, and Ron Elmore, 35, both of Demopolis, were shot to death in front of a residence on East Decatur Street. Jeremy Joshua Bell, 20, of Demopolis was arrested and charged with capital murder and conspiracy to commit murder, and Richard Carl Perry, 48, of Demopolis was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. A third suspect is in custody on another charge with a warrant pending for his arrest in the matter.
