Willie Argle Stokes
THOMASTON — Willie Argle Stokes, 69, of Thomaston, died on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. Funeral services were held at Sardis Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008, with the Revs. Randall Mims and Bo Brantley officiating. Burial was at Goose Creek Cemetery in Lamison. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directed the services.
He was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Thomaston. He was retired from The United States Air Force and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Burt Stokes, of Tallassee; three sons, Stephen Stokes, and wife, Annette, of Jemison, Scott Stokes, and wife, Donna, of Montgomery, Bryan Stokes, of Tallassee; one daughter, Susan Fulmer, and husband, Gary, of Tallassee; four brothers, Lyman Stokes, of Linden, Winston Stokes, Elvin Stokes and Billy Stokes, all of Thomaston; two sisters, Anniece Clarke, of Thomaston and Phyllis Hicks, of Pine Hill; three grandsons and three granddaughters.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Stokes, Chris Clark, Robbie McGilberry, David Stokes, Darrell Stokes, Richard Stokes, Joe Hicks Jr., Paul Stokes, Wayne Stokes and John Stokes.
