DEMOPOLIS &8212; City residents may submit their questions for local municipal candidates to be voiced during a political forum held by the Demopolis Chamber of Commerce.

The forum is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the Demopolis Civic Center, for candidates for Demopolis City Council and mayor.

Smith said the Chamber is seeking confirmation of planned participation in the forum from candidates. She said she has verbal confirmation from some candidates, but are seeking written confirmation from all candidates.

Smith said the last forum the Chamber hosted received average attendance, however municipal elections in the past were well received.

During the forum candidates for all offices time will address the citizens and the mayoral candidates will have opportunity to respond to questions from the public submitted to the Chamber for the forum. The forum will be conducted with a moderator, a timekeeper and an usher, Smith said.

Smith said the submitted questions will be asked in the order in which they are received. The mayoral candidates will have a limited time to respond to each question and the forum will be held on a limited time format, as well, Smith said.

All questions must be submitted to the Chamber of Commerce, e-mailed to dacc@westal.net or faxed to 334-289-1382 no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8.
