HOMEWOOD &8212; Ernestine Schnell Hay, 91, of Homewood, formerly a longtime resident of Demopolis, died June 13, 2008. A graveside service was held on June 17 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.

Schnell was born in Lexington, Tenn. and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1939. She was a member of Demopolis First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include husband of 65 years, Raymond L. Schnell; daughters Linda Ball, and husband, Richard, of Homewood and Janet Ehrke, and husband, Alan, of San Jose, Calif.; three granddaughters; sister-in-law, Helen Schnell Cockrell; brother, Sam R. Hay and sister, Betty Bill, of Lexington, Tenn.; nephews and nieces, including, Marjorie Schnell Brown, of Demopolis.
