Your ballots and in and the votes have been counted for The Demopolis Times Readers Choice Awards 2008.

In recent weeks, Times readers submitted their best picks for area businesses, people and places. We asked who your favorite lawyer is, who your favorite civic leader is, which restaurant has the best service and pie and as always, which restaurant has the best burger in town. This year the ballot included hot topics such as best politician and ice cream.

The Readers Choice Awards is a highlight of our community. The contest allows the choices of our readers to be recognized and accounted for.

Not only did the contest offer area business and leaders an chance at a winning slot, The Times put cash up for a winning ballots drawn from the entries and the two $100 prizes go to Rosemary Shows and Matthew Davenport.

Readers Choice award certificates are being handed out this week. So check out your local favorites and see if they were a winner. A complete list of the Best of the Best Readers Choice Awards will be published in the June 27 edition of The Times.
