Recent news of Demopolis Public Safety Director Jeff Manuel&8217;s resignation took some demopolites by surprise. Much of this surprise can be credited to his dedication to the city.

Manuel has served the City of Demopolis for almost 10 years. He stepped up and took on the duties of Chief of Police following the retirement of Police Chief Charles Avery.

Manuel has served on various law enforcement boards and committees throughout the state and has worked to better the police force in Demopolis in an effort to make a safer city.

Manuel will take the reins at the University of West Alabama as head of campus police. We wish him the best of luck and thank him for the work he has done for our community.
