This week&8217;s Player of the Week choice was virtually a no-brainer. The Tiger senior pitched all 19 innings of Demopolis competition in Friday&8217;s area tournament action, striking out 27 batters, surrendering five hits, snatching three wins and earning Most Valuable Player honors for her efforts.
However, more impressive than even those accolades was Davis&8217; opening-game masterpiece in which she danced with perfection to the tune of 21 consecutive frustrated Greenville batters.
The DHS hurler fanned 10 in the game, setting the stage for the Tigers to romp their way into Sub-State 1.
While the accomplishment was her first rendezvous with softball flawlessness, it is far from her only brush with greatness. The soft-spoken star has anchored Demopolis all season, making double-digit strikeout performances nearly a foregone conclusion.
In fact, as an encore to her perfect game, Davis twirled a 12-strikeout, two-hitter to best Dallas County only a few hours later.
So while the perfect storm of Friday&8217;s tournament opener may prove so rare as to never strike in Demopolis again, it&8217;s a safe bet every time Davis steps into the circle, Tiger players and fans sit on the precipice of witnessing something remarkable.
