DEMOPOLIS &8212; The Tiger golf team shot a 172 Monday afternoon, picking up a 35-stoke victory over Dallas County High to wrap up its regular season with a mark of 14-2. The win serves to provide the team one last burst of momentum as it heads to sectional play today at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper.
Senior John Parten anchored the team, shooting a match low 36. Sophomore Jordan Stone stroked a 40 while junior James Courtney and sophomore Ben McCarter each shot 48.
The win caps off a strong regular season for the Tigers, one that Black credits to the support he and the team have received within the community.
Now Black and his team will look to push the program another step forward when it travels to Jasper today.
Black will take Parten, Courtney, Stone, McCaleb and freshman Sean Griffin to Musgrove to represent the Tigers. According to Black, he was blessed with a pool of dedicated, young golfers from which to choose.
In addition to having a wealth of young players, Black has also been able to rely on the senior leadership of Parten.
