DEMOPOLIS &8212; Rodney E. Newton, 66, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Kidd-Robbins Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Leslie Aucion and Leslie Roberts officiated. Interments followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Butler, with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.
Newton was born in Butler and was a resident of Demopolis for 38 years, where he was the owner of Newton Tire in Demopolis. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Lake View Worship Center in Meridian, Miss.
Survivors include his son, Shon Newton, and his wife, Andrea, of Newnan, Ga., one grandson, two sisters, Juanita Conner, and her husband, Bob, of Panama City, Fla. and Goldie Miles and her husband, Dean, of Columbia S.C. and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Michael Hollinghead, Jerry Butts, Marshall Copeland, Roy Copeland, John Nall and Brad Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers were Don Copeman, Julian &8220;Buzz&8221; Sawyer and Buddy Cross.
