SWEET WATER &8212; First-year head coach Kevin Byrd spent Thursday afternoon going through a light practice with his team as it readied for today&8217;s second-round playoff series against Billingsley.
That sense of urgency seems to permeate a Bulldog team that believes it has the talent to put together a run deep into this year&8217;s playoffs.
Despite its past post-season failures, this collection of athletes appears intent on reaching its potential.
Byrd is confident his team is better than its 12-14 overall record, choosing to focus on the squad&8217;s 7-0 mark against 1A teams.
However, he is aware his team will have to continue overcoming early season problems in order to keep its season alive.
Those problems did not seem to affect the Bulldogs last week when it swept McIntosh by a combined score of 23-2 in the tournament&8217;s first round.
In the second round, Henry Smith will start game one, followed by Luker in game two. The series&8217; first game will start at 4 p.m. while the second is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start time. If needed, game three will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday.
