Despite the cancellation of the scheduled games with teams from Linden and Livingston, the Sports-Plex welcomed a sizable crowd to take in the Saturday morning happenings.
Saturday&8217;s proceedings saw the presentation of plaques to the various league sponsors, the taking of team photos, the ceremonial throwing of the first pitch and the awarding of $100 to Tyler Jones for winning the league&8217;s raffle.
Each of the league&8217;s players were required to sell a minimum of 10 raffle tickets for $1 each, raising approximately $2,000 for the league.
Once Saturday arrived, Parten and other officials discovered the fields were in better shape than had been anticipated.
The estimated 250 players who make up the 24 teams that were present Saturday started competition Monday, April 5 and will continue regular season play until early June before entering into a postseason tournament to determine the champions of each league.
