DEMOPOLIS &045; Lillian Frances Hamer, 90, of Riverside Apartment on U.S. Highway 43 in Demopolis, died Sunday, March 16, 2008. Graveside funeral services are set for 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Riverside Cemetery in Demopolis with Dr. Rex Kent officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the graveside service, at Kidd-Robbins chapel in Demopolis.
Hamer was a native of Demopolis. She resided in Meridian, Miss. from March 1941 until December 1984. She returned to Marengo County as a resident of Linden for six years, and moved back to Demopolis in 1990.
She was a registered nurse, who graduated from Meridian Sanatorium School of Nursing in June of 1937. She was a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association in the District, State and National Chapters. Hamer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Demopolis and the TEL Sunday School Class.
Hamer was preceded in death by her parents, Helon Douglas Curry Hamer and John Melton Hamer, four sisters, Ruby H. McFaddin, Mary Ruth Davis, Thelma Gladys Jones, and Helen Viola Ness, and three brothers, John Douglas Hamer, Lewis Samuel Hamer and William Cocke Hamer.
She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, Alice Washburn and Genida Johnson.
