LINDEN &045; Howard C. King Jr., 85, of Linden died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Bryan W. Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Linden Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Creel officiating. Burial was held at Linden Memorial Park in Linden. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden was in charge of the arrangements.

King was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Linden. He was a member of Linden Baptist Church. He was a retired paper mill worker and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda King, of Linden; three sons, Van King, of Foley, Joe King, of Bay Springs, Miss., John King, of Peachtree City, Calf.; two daughters, Jenny Burge, of Scottsboro and Joyce Leswick of Prattville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were James Allison Glass, Jody King, Jeffrey King, Christopher Burge, Michael Burge and Justin King.

Honorary pallbearer was Charlie Burge.
