SWEET WATER &045; The Demopolis Middle School baseball team split a double-header with Sweet Water Friday night, taking the first game 9-0 before dropping the second 13-0.
Taylor Polk used 60 pitches over three innings to give up only two hits and strike out four in game one. He was relieved by Alex Sturdivant who struck out two batters in two innings of work.
Polk and Thomas Cramer both doubled in the game while Payne Hasty connected on a triple to spur the offensive effort.
Game two told a different tale as the Tigers committed six errors in the early innings to create a deficit they could not overcome.
Tyler Charleston started the game before giving way to Rob Boutwell, Brock Montgomery and Chance Martin.
According to Bradley, the highlight of the game was his team’s final defensive play. Martin fielded a hot line drive back to the mound, spun and threw out the runner at third to turn the double play and kill a Bulldog rally.
Despite the loss, he remains high on his team.
His team will play again in the Thomasville Tournament on Saturday, March 22.
