DEMOPOLIS &045; The Tiger bats remained cool Thursday night as the Demopolis High School softball team lost to Prattville 2-0.
The Tigers’ struggles at the plate have seen them score only two runs over the last three contests, going 1-2 over that span.
Davis hit safely in two of her three at-bats while Morgan Patterson produced the Tigers’ only other base knock in the game.
Despite the numbers, Browder is adamant this team is the most talented offensive squad he’s coached at Demopolis and remains stern in his belief that the slump will soon be over.
The DHS offensive efforts have not been aided by the caliber of pitching it has worked against in the last three games. Demopolis faced Hillcrest Tuesday night, American Christian Academy Wednesday and Prattville Thursday. Two of those three are formidable 6A schools while the third, ACA, is a routinely competitive team.
While the DHS bats have been quieted by strong pitching, the Tigers have been able to lean on their own stellar pitching performances. After striking out eight ACA batters Wednesday, Davis returned to the circle Thursday to strike out eight Prattville hitters.
The ladies’ next tests will come today and Saturday when they play at the Clarkdale Tournament in Meridian, Miss.
