Demopolis man found dead

DEMOPOLIS &045; A Demopolis man was found shot to death Saturday morning at his North Ash Street residence. Police remain in the process of gathering information and are encouraging residents with information to contact the police department.
Public Safety Director Jeff Manuel said at approximately 11:30 a.m. the police department responded to 507 North Ash St. after receiving a call of a man having been found shot. The resident, Randy Douglas Warren, 37, of Demopolis was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it is believed the shooting occurred sometime during the night.
Randy Warren’s sister, Katie, described her brother as a kind and loveable person. &8220;He was very well loved by his family and his friends,&8221; she said.
Katie Warren said Monday afternoon her family was not informed of any additional information in the investigation of her brother’s death.
Randy Warren, a maintenance and construction worker for apartment complexes in the Demopolis area, moved to the city approximately one year ago, Katie Warren said.
Randy Warren was a native of Greensboro where he was a basketball standout, playing for Greensboro East and later for Concordia in Selma.
His mother, Louise Warren, two brothers and one sister precede him in death.
He is survived by five children, four boys and one daughter, his father, Roy Warren of Greensboro, seven sisters and five brothers.
Manuel said Randy Warren’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics Sciences for an autopsy.
His body will lie in state from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Washington&Paige Mortuary in Greensboro. An additional viewing is set for 11 a.m., Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services are set for 12 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church.
Manuel said investigators are still in the process of gathering information.
Police have not released whether the case is ruled a homicide.
