As a first task to getting the newly formed Marengo County Economic Development Authority started, board members last week were presented with plans on pursing a new executive director to carry out the wishes of the board of directors.

As they have shown in their early stages of development, the board should seek the highest standard in looking for a developer for the county.

In their qualifications should not only be a person who is highly professional, but also someone who is concerned with the well-being and growth of the communities that populate Marengo County.

With so much change going on in the national economy, now is the time for Marengo County to stake a claim in developing this area for the better.

An executive director for the Marengo County EDA can be the person to get that job done.

With a solid goal in mind, we hope the board of directors seeks out someone who fits these qualifications.

We hope to see Marengo County continue to show up on the map in terms of growth, development and industry due to these efforts.
