DHS looks to upcoming game

WILCOX CENTRAL &8212; The Demopolis Tigers fell short on Monday night against The Wilcox Jaguars.
Demopolis Assistant Coach Leroy Harris said, &8220;We are going to put this game behind us and get ready for Friday&8217;s game against Sylacauga… We are going into the game with plenty of confidence and be ready to play our style of basketball.&8221;
The Tigers got off to a great start and led at the end of the first quarter 11-9.
The second quarter was a cat fight as both teams kept exchanging baskets and the score was knotted at 21 at halftime.
In the third quarter, L. Nicholson of the Jaguars took over as he scored 14 of his 18 points. Wilcox led 43-32 going into the final period.
The Tigers struggled in the fourth quarter and turned the ball over eight times. Wilcox held Demopolis to only six fourth quarter points and held on to win 55-38.
Leading scorer for The Tigers was Casey Cantey with 11 points. Leading the way for The Jaguars was L. Nicholson with 18 points and K. Haywood with 17.
Jeremy Wallace, Patrick Robertson and Casey Cantey were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Tigers face Sylacauga High School at 7 p.m. on Friday at Sylacauga in Class 5A Central sub-regional playoffs.
