THOMASTON &8212; The Lady Eagles couldn&8217;t get off the ground in Thursday night&8217;s match up with R.C. Hatch.
The A.L. Johnson High School team struggled early and folded late as the Lady Bobcats final found their stride. R.C. Hatch coach John Abraham said the 58-15 win by his team, who are 5-11 on the season, showcased what the group can do once it is 100 percent healthy.
His group opened up the match up with a big first two quarters, in which the group put up back-to-back 20-point periods. The Eagles started out with their best period as well, but A.L. Johnson&8217;s nine-point start followed by a meager three-point second period was no match, giving the Bobcats a 40-12 lead.
Neither team put up more points than their first quarter total in the entire second half. For the Lady Bobcats, that meant combining a 10 and an eight-point quarter to finish the game with 58 points. For the Eagles, it meant adding three points to their score in the third before putting up a goose egg in the fourth to finish with 15 points in the game.
The Eagles had no players in double digits in the contest. Eboni Smith led the Lady Bobcats scoring with 15 points, three steals and two rebounds. Arailia Boddie contributed 11 points and Tiara Scott lead rebounding with eight.
