Wilbon Gregory Sammons

MELBOURNE, Fla. &8212; Wilbon Gregory Sammons, 75, of Melbourne, Fla. died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Melbourne. Funeral services were held at O&8217;Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden, at 2 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 19, 2008, with the Rev. Daniel Gandy officiating. Burial was at New Octagon Cemetery. O&8217;Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directed.
Sammons was born on Nov. 2, 1932, in Linden. Following graduation from Linden High School in 1950, he served for three years in the United States Air Force. He married the former Shirley Trainham. They moved to Melbourne, Fla. in 1956, where Sammons owned and operated several businesses for many years, Comet TV, Hunt&8217;s Used Auto Parts and the Trading Post. Sammons enjoyed outdoor sports and was an avid hunter for many years.
His wife, Shirley Sammons, one son, Gregory Sammons II, two daughters, Bonnie Yearty and Deanne Kelley, one sister, Johnna Rogers and four grandchildren, survives him.
Pallbearers were Trey Sammons, Greg Sammons Jr., Cameron Kelley Jr., Tommy Yearty, Bill Yearty and Cam Kelley.
