UNIONTOWN &8212; &8220;I think this team may be better than the team last year.&8221;
That is what R.C. Hatch coach Homer Davis Jr. said about this year&8217;s Bobcat basketball team, who are currently sitting at 14-1 after a tough regional 58-51 win on the road against Keith High School. Davis compared the game to a championship outing for his group, noting the combination of Keith talent and the home atmosphere his group had to overcome.
The win also puts the group at 2-0 in their area and against Keith. Their only other area opponent, Southern Choctaw, hosts the Bobcats Friday before R.C. Hatch returns the favor the following Friday, Jan. 18, with a game on their home court.
The group is on a 12 game winning streak this season, and R.C. Hatch hasn&8217;t lost a home game in 25 games &8212; going back to a loss against 5A Wilcox Central in the 2A Bulldogs&8217; holiday tournament in 2006. Oddly enough it is the same school, Wilcox Central, that provided R.C. Hatch with its only &8220;L&8221; of the season.
