Senior, Ashton Washington, is leaving her mark the University of West Alabama program in her final year at the school by consistently dominating opponents.
This weekend the 6-foot forward from Lexington. Miss., posted her fourth double-double performance of the season. She raised the already high bar with 15 points and 13 rebounds in a game where the Lady Tigers fell 77-69 to Arkansas Tech even though four players in the Red and White managed to shoot double figures.
And the stellar performance on the road by Washington came a mere three days after the Gulf South Conference named her the East Division Player of the Week for her play in the West Florida Holiday Classic. It was the third time in her career she has received the award from the GSC.
In the Classic, Washington helped her team to a 1-1 record by putting up double figures in the Lady Tigers&8217; two games. She posted her third double-double of the season to open the Classic, with 13 points and 12 rebounds, against Arkansas Monticello. She then added a team-high 11 points in the group&8217;s loss to Henderson State.
Washington was a Pre-season A-GSC Honoree. She currently leads the Lady Tigers with over 14 points a game and over nine rebounds a contest. She is also at the top of the conference &8212; ranking second in rebounds and third in scoring.
