CAMDEN &8212; The Demopolis High School Lady Tigers beat the Wilcox Central Jaguars in a 49-47 nail biter Friday night in dramatic fashion.
The group, who were bouncing back from a loss at home on Dec. 15 to Selma High School, came into Wilcox Central High with determination to right the ship. And for the first three quarters of play the Tigers dominated the Jaguars and controlled the game.
In the hard-fought quarter, the Tigers saw the lead, and control of the game, slip away as the Jaguars smelled blood and stepped up their attack. With 7.1 seconds left in the game the Wilcox Central Jaguars went for the jugular and finally took the lead by one point.
But the Tigers, already determined after dropping their first game the week before, knew 7.1 seconds was more than enough to seal a win.
The leading scorer for Demopolis in the game was senior leader Jasmine Simmons with 13. The win moves Demopolis to 5-1 on the season. The group heads to Selma High School Friday and Saturday to play in the school&8217;s tournament.
