Demopolis High School senior Casey Cantey has hit the court and continued to use his ever-developing skills to the Tiger&8217;s advantage. During Saturday&8217;s sub-regional playoff game against Sylacauga High School Cantey continued his trek of adding points to the board for The Tigers, scoring 31 points against The Aggies.
Tiger head coach Jesse Bell credited Cantey with being the power behind their offense early in the season. Bell said on defense Cantey was their go-to shot blocker.
Last year, coaches and fans quickly singled out Cantey, despite limited playing time during the season due to injuries, as a talented player. He has been scouted by various colleges in the area throughout the season, most recently by Shelton State, however, has not made a commitment to the school of his choice yet.
At the end of last year&8217;s season, Cantey was invited to play in the Alabama High School Athletic Association&8217;s North/South all-star game, which brings together some of the top players from around the state. Later during the summer, he traveled to Las Vegas, where he participated in an Amateur Athletic Association tournament with his summer team the Southeast Elites, who are based out of Huntsville.
