DEMOPOLIS &045; With more than 35 years decorating experience Letty Fields, owner of Designers Showcase, will be retiring later this year to pursue some personal goals.
According to Fields, her 17 years with Designers Showcase has not only provided more years of doing what she loves to do, but also some very dedicated customers.
In 1972, Fields first began decorating when she worked for a homebuilder in Jackson. She then spent time in Linden working for a decorating company and later with Larry Walters Furniture.
She first became a part of the Designers Showcase family when the store was still known as Country Showcase and was owned by Polly and John Moseley. Just a year after she came to work for the company, she became a partner in the business.
After Polly Moseley retired shortly thereafter, Fields changed the name of the store to Designers Showcase. Since then, the store has seen numerous expansions, including their most recent addition, their downtown location that opened up two years ago.
Fields said she enjoys being able to see people’s homes and make them into something beautiful. Furthermore, the majority of her clients already have an idea of what they want, such as colors, but just need a little guidance to pull off the whole look.
When her store closes sometime after the first of the year, Fields said she will finally have a chance to dedicate some time to making her own home beautiful. She will also be able to devote time to another passion of hers &045; gardening.
But Fields said she hasn’t given up the decorator’s hat for good. She plans to do some freelance in-home decorating and work from her home.
