LINDEN &8212; The Linden Patriots are facing one of the worst teams in the Alabama High School Athletic Associations 1A Division. Coffeeville High School is sitting at 0-9 this season.
After Friday&8217;s game, the Panthers are packing it in for the season. Do not pass go do not collect $200.
Linden High School, on the other hand, has one loss to arguably the best teams in 1A and one of the best in the state at any level. They are a lock in the No. 2 seed of their division after beating their last regional opponent and rival, A.L. Johnson. They are at home for the first week of the playoffs. But Patriot coach Andro Williams isn&8217;t as comfortable with the situation as one would assume.
Not only does Williams worry about his players not taking the game seriously and struggling or getting upset, he said he is also concerned about the game&8217;s affect on his team&8217;s preparation as they approach the playoffs. He said his group is walking a fine line between getting up for the game and getting to focused on the game.
Williams said his group has seen a lot of improvement up front the past several weeks &8212; a key position for his offense that is so dependent on establishing the run. With holes opening up and players blocking, Williams is also anticipating several playmakers, who have seen limited playing time due to nagging injures, returning full speed to their normal responsibilities on the team.
