GALLION &8212; At 12:20 a.m. two tractor trailers collided in U.S. Highway 80, resulting in the Alabama Department of Transportation closing the road and diverting traffic from the wreck for seven hours.
Public Information and Education Officer for the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Trooper John Reese, said he doesn&8217;t have much information on the accident or its cause presently, as it is still under investigation. He said he did know that the accident, which occurred at mile marker 43.7 in Hale County, resulted in the injury of one of the two tractor-trailer drivers, Asman Munis Khateb of Georgia, though he didn&8217;t know the current status of the victim who was driving the Kenworth truck or the extent of the injuries.
Reese said the ALDOT was notified of the diesel fuel spill, which issued from a punctured gas tank on one of the vehicles, and troopers on the scene were instructed to close the road and divert traffic to Alabama Highway 69.
Reese said the driver of the Volvo truck involved in the accident, Beverly Glenn Hunter of Georgia, was not injured.
