King slated for Sax in the City today

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Blues legend Willie King will be in concert this evening on the public square for the community&8217;s enjoyment as part of Sax in the City&8217;s fall concert series.
King is a blues artist that performs throughout the Southeast Smith said. She said King is always a big attraction and is a great blues guitarist.
The performance will be held at 6 p.m. in the Demopolis Public Square. Admission is free.
King said his music career began at age eight when he started playing a home-made guitar made by his grandfather. He said a family friend purchased his first factory guitar, a Gibson acoustic, when he was fourteen.
King, a native of Noxubee county, Miss., said he loves sharing his love for the blues.
King has received numerous musical achievement awards throughout his career including the 2006 nomination for &8220;Traditional Album of the Year&8221; and &8220;Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year&8221; in the Blues Foundation&8217;s Blue Music Awards. He has been inducted into the Howlin&8217; Wolf Hall of Fame and won the &8220;Blues Artist of the Year&8221; award by Living Blues Magazine in 2004.
The Chamber, in partnership with the Two Rivers Arts Council, hosts Sax in the City in the spring and the fall.
Smith said the council and the chamber have hosted this program in conjunction with one another since it&8217;s beginning.
The program offers the community a collection of concerts to attend and enjoy.
It is an outdoor concert series, usually held in the downtown square of Demopolis.
This year&8217;s program included three events in the spring and will host two events in the fall.
Smith said the community is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets for the concerts on the square.
