DEMOPOLIS &8212; Head coach for the Tigers, Tom Causey, said for Friday&8217;s rivalry game with Greensboro High School he and his coaches are working to get the team ready physically. He said they are doing nothing to change the group mentally.
Causey said the game is big for both communities because of the number of area residents who graduated from one school or the other and work with individuals from the other school. He said the game is important to fans and parents of players in both communities, so it is also in the back of the minds of players.
As for practice, Causey said the group is continuing to focus on what they have been working on for the past several weeks &8212; mistake free, assignment football. He said he is also looking for his athletes to show some physicality this week as they get ready for the emotional game.
Causey is also looking to limit the legwork of Greensboro&8217;s two biggest offensive threats &8212; Dontrell Lee and Courtney Williams. Causey said both are strong physical backs and the 6-foot 200-pound Lee poses the added threat of lining up at quarterback for the team from time to time.
Causey said that is where his group&8217;s physical play comes into the picture. He said his group has to shut down the run first to control the Greensboro offense.
